There are many NGO's in Afghanistan helping women to actually "protect" themselves from prostitution. I would say its almost impossible to STOP with the prostitution, but with your help for sure we can. Imagine passing days without food, with no one to help you, with no water and a big family living with you. They consider that the prostitution the only way to stop with the misery of these families. Even though they don't want to prostitute themselves, they really have to. With money, our program will help them to have pleasure of living. The work we are planning for them is really different and unique.

How the community served will benefit from the program

For our NGO we will hire teachers from Afghanistan, and they will teach them how to work. We will benefit them by not having to work as prostitutes. They would then have a better job, and earn more money. These teachers would exactly teach them how everything works. This program will also benefit the fact that we will try to end the prostitute issue. The people in Afghanistan would not have to work earning money as prostitutes anymore. This program can be done with 1 million dollars. These teachers would have to teach all these women for approximately 1 year. The women will have to find precious stones in Afghanistan which is not rare according to the research and with the stones make precious jewels and stuff, after that they can start teaching other people how to make the jewels. It would benefit the country a lot, because people who prostitute themselves will ask for help and we will be able to help them.

How KEEP A CHILD ALIVE will help

The program will opperate in Kabul, Afghnistan. With the $1billion dollars we are going to provide a place for women and children that are part of the prositution atmosphere. We are also going to provide education, local stuff (teachers) will teach them, and basic needs such as food and health care.
We will contract local stuff to help us accomplish our mission with the help of Kabul's government, we will send the victims to the house where teachers and doctors will provide them help. We're also going to advertise our mission and ask for help. Our organization will start in the beginning a small amount of children and women, about 40-50 and 10 teachers.

Sustaintability

Through our site and billboards we will address the situation. We will ask for money and food to provide a better life for our students. We will also help all of our ten teachers who are willing to work in partnership with us. Almost in 90% of the country education is banned for girls. From the point of view of our NGO, if people have access to information, they won’t prostitute later on or even now and become adults with no real life. Everyone deserves a chance.
So, at first we will start with a small number of people that will be helped: 40-50. The ten teachers all from Afghanistan will live in the same house. Every month they will receive food. The rent is on our own. We will open our doors for those who want to save their lives. We don’t have a maximum of students.

Background

Full name: Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
Population: 29.1 million (UN, 2010)
Capital and largest city: Kabul
Area: 652,225 sq km (251,773 sq miles)
Major languages: Dari, Pashto
Major religion: Islam
Life expectancy: 45 years (men), 45 years (women) (UN)
Cultural facts: Shaking hands with men is a taboo and talking directly about women’s rights could be punishable by death.

Afghanistan’s literacy rate is very low compared to other countries. In Afghanistan, only 23.5 percent of the population above 15 years old is literate, while the rate for women is even worse at 12.6 percent. At 36 percent, Afghanistan’s girls in primary schools is low compared with 90.4 percent in Iran, 67 percent in Saudi Arabia, and 62 percent in Pakistan. Up from 31 percent in 2008 to 35 percent in 2009, unemployment is cited as the second biggest problem Afghan women face. A separate study indicated that only a quarter of government positions are occupied by women. Many factors contribute to unemployment, such as low literacy rates and professional skills among women. All of this problems just make the women prostitute themselves. You may ask yourself: But why they do that? Really, there is no other way to survive. Women and kids destroy their life to get money. Prostituion is the "way out" of starvation and misery.
